The Collaborative Discussion Project’s monthly, online community gatherings create a space for members to connect with others in the CDP Community. They will include time for member updates, exploring new CDP resources and programs, as well as member suggested questions, challenges, or topics.
During this month’s gathering on October 17th from 12pm to 1pm (eastern), we will be offering a workshop introducing a brand new toolkit activity, Designing Inclusive Discussions.
How can we design discussion spaces to create a supportive environment for all participants to show up authentically? How can we train our students, community partners, and leaders to create inclusive discussion spaces?
In this workshop, participants will be introduced to and practice an expedited version of a new activity, Activity 1.10 Designing Inclusive Discussions from the Collaborative Discussion Toolkit. Participants will identify the range of considerations necessary for inclusive discussion design, including universal versus specific design principles, and practice designing inclusive discussion spaces. Come learn how this activity can help groups collaboratively design discussion spaces.

The Collaborative Discussion Project (CDP) was created by a team of dialogue and deliberation experts, practitioners, and educators to foster and develop the collaborative discussion skills and mindsets (CQ) necessary to work together with others to solve problems. It includes a toolkit, containing intentionally designed activities to teach collaborative discussion skills, coach trainings & certificate programs, and a community of practice.
